BLUE IN SEPTEMBER (Bolter/Bell) All of my days have turned to changes All of my dreams have turned to dread Now I’m standing on the outside of my skin and I’m rearranging And I don’t think it ever will fit that tight again I can remember being blue in September It’s funny I remember how I tried to hang on to you I can remember being blue in September Now, it’s going to fall on you You see I went up on the mountain side and I tried to stake a claim But when I got to the top you know I couldn’t even tell you my own name Now there ain’t no little man waiting on me at the end of some rainbow way And all my pots of gold, you know, he just gave them all away

Picture 04:31
PICTURE (Bolter/Bell) I saw a man and a woman On the corner where the highway meets the road There was a child she was holding, Their destiny was on a sign he showed And I watched them As I waited on the light to change I hit the locks to make sure I was safe They looked at me just before I drove away And I drove away in a flash Is that the picture, they'll remember me for? Is that what I'll see when I'm standing at the door? I saw my child as she stood there Begging for my eyes In her hands was a treasure, The ones you get one chance to find "In a minute!" I told her as the phone rang Caught up in a world of soon-forgotten-deals And I answered it, just before she walked away And she walked away in a flash So many people that we all take for granted So few of them that we ever really see So many questions, but the only one I can think of Is what is in it for me? Well, I died with my eyes hoping, To hear my heart make a sound But all the lines never spoken, Were placed in the lost and found And in the morning, My face was in the paper Some old photograph of a young man in the past Just another soul who died on a Monday And I died in a flash

Finally Fine 03:56
FINALLY FINE (Bolter/Bell) Seeking sunlight, but it keeps on raining Got something to do with this hard outer shell that I keep my brain in If there's no change, there'll be no change coming You can run from yourself, but you have to keep on running Then it crossed my mind That I don't cross your mind And it's finally fine with me Hearts get broken into a million pieces We can't look long enough in the place that holds the reasons I guess we're scared of what we'll find when we start looking I love the book man but God I hate the movie Oh how different it would be If I could have you here with me I only wish we could have seen We only varied by degrees I saw your face in some pictures I was packing I felt you there but you so quickly ran right past me I called out to you, but I guess you couldn't hear me Just wanted to tell you how much all of those years mean

Sea 04:23
SEA (Bolter/Bell) Seems like so many finer days Are spent so long in a dreary haze I feel my fault line has become exposed Leaner times are coming fast When all these centered words won’t last And the time has come to clean up all my trash Now I see, There’s nothing more to see But the Sea? There’s really nothing more to believe. Believe. I came across an iron man Who lived inside an iron can And grabbed up all the water he could find He claimed to keep it safely away But the wind and rain took it all away Left him to rust at the bottom of the sea Now it’s greed! Is there really more you need? Yeah it’s me! and I’m at the bottom of the Sea Nothing more to see, Nothing more to me Now the tides are shifting far from me I’m lost in this hypocrisy And I find the fables leaving me so dry More than this I should not say Just try and look the other way When your time has come and your tables turn around And you know, You've got a long, long way to go But will you see? There’s really nothing more to believe Don’t believe in ME, Just believe in the Sea
5.
TOUCHING THE GROUND (Bolter/Bell) Jump out the window of your soul And step into the consciousness there below Wade into the shallow caverns inside your brain You'll understand this languished land and you'll see what's plugging your drain Will you believe me? When I say That you'll never get that sound no matter what you play Will you deceive me? When I turn around You cannot be that high, you're still touching the ground Follow your footsteps in your past And soon you'll see why you just never last All the ones you say you love you know you will be deciding Now everyone is here and now's your turn to be dividing
6.
MADE IN THE USA (Bolter/Bell) He spends some of his pay, paying for what he has And most for what he has not He spends some of his days dreaming of what he'd have But most with what he's got Some of what he makes goes to the ones he loves Most to the guy who put up the cash He shakes his head at the way they want him to live 'Cause he knows he'll never learn to climb a back He remembers what it meant to be made in the USA Now he sees himself scrape by day after endless day Sometimes he wishes on what has passed him by But mostly for the day he will survive When he thinks of all his days When he thinks of all he'd trade When he thinks of what he's made In the USA Some people tell him his standards are far too high Most say he just lives in the past He'd like to think he can win this forgotten race But somehow he knows he won't last If you want to live in this promised land Make sure you hold a promised hand Cause the contest rules have worn rather thin And the best man does not always win
7.
Empty Stare 03:28
EMPTY STARE (Bolter/Bell) You know I knew I would find you here Tripping over the same old tears There with your puppet smile With one eye on the puppet maker’s child So much that you’re made of now Someone must get through to you somehow For your light is fading And you seem to think some success your making How Long? How long must you go your way? How many more will you lead astray? How much further ‘til you get to glare Alone at your table with your full glass and your empty stare Opportunist with an evil mind Living high on other people’s time All you’ve given you expect in return No prize for the future a surprise for the kids to learn Eloquent sermon with a shallow line So many syllables, so little time Nothing ventured is nothing gained All causes looked plundered yet nothing is rearranged
8.
EVERYBODY KNOWS (Bolter/Bell) Do you feel good – how do you know? Do you see well – well what does it show you? Well you look like you’re ready to blow Would it help – help you to know? You’re not the only one Do you believe in all you hear? Do you hold on to what is dear? Do you pray for what you need? Do you stay until you bleed? Don’t you know that we all care? Get to love you if you share But if you turn your flowers to stone Thinking you’re the only one who knows the lonely road Everybody knows Now it comes down to all that you own It surrounds you and won’t let you go Can it be true that they’re all the same? Out to get you in a mindless game And you don’t even know their names

about

"Rock South," Traditional Rock, Southern Rock, Blues Rock, Power Pop Rock Band from Northwest Florida, featuring the songs of Blake Bell and Buddy Bolter. Their latest album, "Undiscovered", is a compilation of guitar driven rock songs including, "Blue in September," "Touching the Ground" and "Empty Stare."

The duo is heavily influenced by the Classic Rock sound of Cheap Trick, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Allman Brothers, Led Zeppelin and the Cure to name a few. It is guitar driven rock with lyrics that resonate with the listener on multiple levels. Real Eyes performs with a rhythm section consisting of drums, bass and keyboards.

Buddy and Blake have been writing and performing together for 20 years. They appeared in the College Music Journal (CMJ) charts in the 1990's in support of their then college rock act after they had some success on college radio.

There has always been some legend around how the two met. In one version, the two met while working at a nursing home when they rushed in to save a dying woman. The woman survived (thankfully) and she introduced the two.

The other version holds that the two met after unknowingly answering each other's ads in a free paper. One ran an ad for a ‘lead-guitarist’ and the other ran an ad for a ‘rhythm-guitar/singer.’ "I got a call from this guy who answered my ad and a few minutes later, I called an ad about playing lead-guitar, and it ended up being the same guy," says Bolter. “So I guess we just sort of clicked."

I guess we'll never really know which version is accurate, so, just pick one. But either way, as they both recall, "the first time we got together, we wrote like 8 songs and a couple of them were pretty good. So, we thought, let's do it again tomorrow." And as fans, we're really glad they did.
